Intel S4600LH: quattro socket e 48 slot DIMM per i più esigenti

Intel è duramente al lavoro su una nuova scheda madre per server high-end con nome in codice Pass Capo Lizard. La scheda madre S4600LH è capace di ospitare 4 processori Xeon Sandy Bridge EP e 48 banchi di RAM.

La scheda madre Intel S4600LH è chiaramente dedicata al settore server di fascia alta. I suoi 4 socket sono in grado di ospitare i nuovi processori a 8 core Intel Xeon E5-4600, con architettura Sandy Bridge EP. Presenti anche 12 slot DIMM dedicati a ciascun processore, per un totale di 48 banchi installabili. La RAM totale installabile arriverebbe ad 1 TB.

La S4600LH offre anche 8 porte SCU e 2 porte SATA 3, oltre a due slot PCI-E 3.0 x48, uno slot PCI-E x8 e porta LAN Intel con supporto VT. Il tutto è gestito dal chipset Intel C600 Patsburg. Il lancio è previsto nel secondo trimestre del 2012 ad un prezzo non ancora precisato.
